Amy Smart was an American model as well as actress. Growing up and being raised in California USA she started her modelling career in Italy. Her Costly Affair, a 1996 TV film which was her first film part. Her struggle to land an appearance in Starship Troopers, a film that featured mostly minor roles, was very intense. It was a hard time for her to make the transition from modelling to acting as the models were never believed to be actors and were mostly assigned smaller roles that were insignificant. Amy was determined to keep trying. She made her way to greater roles, starting with The 70s series and Varsity Blues film. In 2005, Amy took on the lead role in The romantic comedic film Just Friends with Ryan Reynolds. It was a huge box office success and Amy was finally able to get the recognition that she was trying for for more than a decade. Then she went on to work in several of the most famous films including the Crank series with Jason Statham as well as Shameless in which she played a recognizable character.
