Taylor
Taylor Swift has become a rare pop phenomenon: A superstar who crossed over completely from the world of country music to pop culture, becoming a pop icon that will endure forever, and sweeping over all of the world. Swift has thrown off her roots in the country as if they were second skins, revealing herself to be the smartest pop singer/songwriter in her generation. She has the ability to take the zeitgeist of today and make it her own. These skills were evident on her early hits including the neo-tribute Tim McGraw but her second album in 2008's Fearless featured a singer-songwriter figuring out the person she really was, and in the process finding a mass audience. The album was a huge success, not just in the United States, having six platinum-certified songs. In fact, the Top Ten songs Love Story and You Belong with Me were the most important reasons. It also performed well all over the world. Swift soared to the top of her game after the release of Speak Now. With the three albums that followed -- Red 2012 1989, Red 2012 as well as Reputation 2017 -- her success only grew. This was a sure sign she had moved to an entirely new world of pop that she could be part of. It was not long before she reformulated her approach in 2020's more streamlined siblings folklore (and Evermore) and stayed in the forefront of pop culture.
