Lee Roy Selmon's story is a mix of the football scholarship of his parents and a commitment to the community. One of the first things he did is to help his relatives. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. The family raised nine kids in a Eufala farm. Two soccer. He was one of the three brothers that played for Oklahoma. The three brothers all made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the top lineman from the USA. During his three years as Oklahoma's starting quarterback and Sooners' starting quarterback, they went 32-1-1 and captured two national titles. In 1975, he received his third scholarship and was named an National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon received his bachelor's master's degree in educational studies. Fourth-year service in college Lee Roy devoted ten hours per week to volunteer projects. After graduation Lee Roy relocating to Tampa which is where he played for 9 years with Tampa's Buccaneers. There were three times, he was selected All-Pro. Lee Roy began his professional career. The year 1988 was the first time he worked as an Account Relation Officer in the First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of 10 of America's most outstanding young males. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and was a tall of 6-2. When he was playing college, he commanded the team of 1975. In 1993, he was named as associate director at the University of South Florida. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988 the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, and then the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 presented its Distinguished American Award to his parents, Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma awarded it.
