Her parents are Harvey Welker who is Native American and Julie Welker who is African-American. She has an indigenous father and mother who is African American. Walker was educated through The Germantown Friends School (Germantown Region) in Philadelphia and graduated in 1994. In 1998, she received her degree at Harvard College with a Bachelor's degree. Welker is since the age of 20 to John Hughes who is a well known marketing director of Merck Philadelphia. The couple have two kids. The couple started having an affair.
